Hi Gary,

I don't know if your activity is useful or not.
but I am sure your expertise can be useful.

We have a activity to play a text typed by the kids:

http://activities.sugarlabs.org/en-US/sugar/addon/4038

and use text to speech in other activities, as Write and Read,
and Sugar itself can play with espeak any selected text.

I don't know how all this compares with your proposal,
but should be good learn from your experience.
