I think the election of the js framework is an advantage for web devs, since
one of the Karma objectives is to attract them.

I'm agree, dojo or jQuery are the big contenders (the trends report support
it), we can take their strengths in order to provide a more complete
solution. I mean, web devs could use the js framework functionalities (i.e.
widgets) that are no relatead with Karma extension.
I have a little experience with dojo, but I'm looking about jQuery. Maybe we
could provide some portability between them. I need to look the plug-in
architecture. Anyway, I prefer on step at a time.
