video chat alone, not so useful.

video chat combined with lots of other practical collaborative tools? 
pretty great, pretty humanizing, very supportive of lots of other 
activities.

that is a GREAT link, by the way - as well as the whole discussion that 
has spun off of it.  thank you so much for posting it here.
