[SoaS] Hybrid live images considered harmful?

Anyone know where I can find a discussion of the tradeoffs involved in
"hybrid live images"[1] - in particular, the consequences of using
iso9660 as the root filesystem type.

One thing I can think of is that OFW won't be able to boot iso9660
filesystems.
