Free-association:

When I think about the folks who've taught me things in a Sugar-like
manner, they're usually the people I just call friends. Friends,
buddies, people who you can go "ooh, shiny, isn't this neat?" around,
and they'll encourage you. Sometimes big siblings. Sugar Sibs, Sugar
Buddies, and Sugar Friends are either (1) redundant with the UI or (2)
just sound weird, though.

Sugar Scouts? (Advance parties foraging for interesting things - also,
girl/boy scout troops association.) Sugar Greeters? The Sugar Welcome Wagon?

I keep thinking about arriving to my first day at kindergarten,
terrified, and getting a huge welcome and hug from my wonderful first
classroom teacher, Mrs. Liss, who showed me all these cool stations I
could play with (painting! books! water table! goldfish!). What do you
call that?

The Sugar Doormat? Welcome mat? (Hm, "mat" may not be the best word.) I
personally have nothing against the word "ambassador" - it doesn't carry
a ton of baggage for me - but I can see where you're coming from.

Sugar Taste-testers? (Cue Mary Poppins music here.) Test-drivers?

I'm sure other people have better ideas than this...
