[IAEP] Sugar on a Stick v2 Release Naming

In fact Martin if I remember correctly we had already discussed this
on-list... I will try to find the thread.

The idea is to maximize launch impact by keeping the element of
surprise on our side. This is also why the ice-cream shop doesn't
announce their summer specials in advance - people like to be amused
at what the latest news is, at their ice-cream parlor or at their
project :-) Many journalists who covered the Strawberry launch were
delighted with the name.

Another idea with the flavor name roughly matching the logo color is
for nongeeks to easily identify a SoaS version by mentioning the color
of the Sugar logo at boot time. This helps us avoid horrid text and
version numbers during the graphic boot sequence.

You may remember Gary said (after his great green recoloring job on
the beauty shot) that he was putting in a vote for Gooseberry
(http://meeting.sugarlabs.org/sugar-meeting.log.20090609_1104.html)...

Single names are best - easier to remember.

We had brought up with Christian the possibility of adding a new logo
color combination for the next mystery flavor ;-)

"Sugar" the word can have negative connotations associated with
diabetes, obesity, sweets without nutrients, etc. The ice-cream
association helps us because it's fun, it's associated with kids, and
it doesn't harm anyone to have a cone.

It greatly assisted us to go "beta" and "v1" with SoaS, since
journalists and bloggers understood that numbering immediately. This
is solving our problem of incomprehensible Sugar + Fedora + OLPC-OS
version numbers (as useful as they are to us from a technical
standpoint). We said in our June 24th press release that the next SoaS
version would come out before the end of the year; our challenge is to
find a newsworthy story to tell for that launch (and the other PR we
are working on to create buzz and spread awareness). For the v2 launch
or the next, I am hoping we can put together a "try Sugar online" web
environment which could be as basic as showing the interface with
rollover balloons, or as complex as actually processing data.
