This email is for those interested in the widget GSoC '16 project.

Hi,

Check this out:

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Experiments

...some of these are similar to what we want for the widgets for Music
Blocks...

This is very, very similar to what I have in mind for the "*pitch
staircase*" widget.

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Strings

Each node divides the string by a ratio and the visual feedback is
proportionally accurate (e.g. dividing the string in half creates an
octave). This is one of the first things we want for the pitch staircase.

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Harmonics

This is something else I want:

1. for the pitch staircase (but not as harmonics, rather as new
fundamental pitch--the wavelength corresponds to new fundamental).

(icing on the cake) 2. A harmonic widget which would be almost identical
to what is here that would output harmonic blocks (yet to be created)

This is not so much like the *rhythm rulers*, but may be helpful to see:

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Rhythm

It does not have functionality to:
1. add new beats
2. divide beats

The *piano roll* and *melody maker* are like our matrix -- except our
matrix is better! What we have here is a "one time wonder", a "one trick
pony" -- it doesn't show accurately what the pitch is. It is only for
instant gratification. Not a learning tool.

(I haven't tried mic function--maybe that has something interesting, but
I do not have patience for it now)

This is not like any widget I imagined but is interesting. Maybe it
would be most like the *free pitch slider***widget

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Sound-Waves

this may be similar, but my chromium browser (or computer) is not
allowing me to see it:

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Spectrogram

...what is good about this is it allows people unfamiliar with music to
have accurate visual feedback of the sound AND that is good for
musicians, too, b/c *multiple ways of thinking about the same thing is
GOOD! :)

*This may be interesting and helpful for some kind of integration with
solfege, but not one of the widgets I designed and IMHO not a priority
(but will put here anyway for the record)
