I have an Ubuntu 16.04 system I can try this on later.

Is yours 32-bit or a 64-bit install?

If you can reply with the output from the command

  uname -a

that will tell us.

If you prefer, you can delete or obscure the name of the hostname. For
example, the machine I'm using now is Ubuntu 14.04 32-bit and, editing out
the hostname, the output from uname -a is:

Linux nomnomnom 3.13.0-100-generic #147-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 18 16:49:53 UTC 2016 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

in which the i686 indicates 32-bit architecture and 3.13.0-100-generic
indicates the kernel version (and that I'm several updates behind :( ).

(Sorry if this is too much information but I figured it would be good to
check and err on the side of more communication and detail.)
