[Sugar-devel] [SWEETS] Setting Sugar nickname on initial start

Hi all!

The behaviour for initial Sugar start was changed in
SweetsDistribution:0.94. During the first Sugar start, it will ask for
nickname instead of silently reusing system user name.

If I recall right, the purpose for this feature was better integration
between system login system and Sugar (when user logged from X user manager,
system user name should be reused for Sugar nickname). It sounds like
not SweetsDistribution level feature (it doesn't control how users
login to the system) and more appropriate for Sugar distributions like
SoaS or TOAST. One of misusing examples was that people logged to
SweetsDistribution from standard user, thus, Sugar nickname was the same
for all people.

So, this feature was disabled (but can be enabled in SweetsDistribution
based distributions by presetting /desktop/sugar/user/default_nick GConf
parameter to "system".
