I think you are right,  We may change the stars in a row for dots
around the clock, in order to imply passing time.

The problem with using those symbols, after testing your icons, is
that they steal space for the clock.  And in the size that the icon
has inside the combo, all looks very small.

I would change the media record symbol in your icons for the star, or
just a white dot.  I'll send updated versions soon.
