[Sugar-devel] initial commit to git?

I've two new activities for which I'm trying to make an initial commit to
gitorious. I'm logged in and have created projects (about 15 hours ago now).
One is named Sun Moon Music (sun-moon-music as per git). From the top
directory of the project I've done the following (and all responses look
good except the last):

git init
git add .
git status
git commit -a -m"Initial commit"
git push gitorious at git.sugarlabs.org:sun-moon-music/mainline.git

The final response includes:
No refs in common and none specified: doing nothing
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
error: failed to push some refs to
gitorious at git.sugarlabs.org/sun-moon-music/mainline.git

What did I do wrong or leave out?

Or does gitorious currently have a problem?

Or do new projects take longer than 15 hours to effectively register and
become available?

(One further point: following the above,
git status
indicates the local repository is now empty, with nothing left to send on; I
assume this means that it thinks it has done its job.)
