Correct, it was never a feature of the original Gnome Labyrinth code, if you look at other commercial and free mind-mapping tools it's about an equal 50/50 split between allowing labels on connections, and not. As a quick work around, just put a node half way along two connections:

I will add it to the list of Labyrinth feature suggestions, but to be honest it is not too high up my priority list just now (unless I stumble over a good/easy fix while working elsewhere). Labyrinth is in much more need of simplifying/gutting the UI rather than adding more complexity. The modal UI (i.e. tool bar editing states), the required keyboard modifier shortcuts for basic usage, and needing to use left and right mouse buttons must be a nightmare for new users. These need stripping out from the design, or at least making the operations more visibly discoverable.

Thanks for the feedback, it's nice to know folks do actually use it :-)
