Just a high level take on these patches...

Sounds good to me. Adherence to well known shortcuts is usually a
win, and this is a basic feature we didn't have before, as far as I
know. I suppose the mnemonic is "location".

Anyone care to explain the mnemonic for Ctrl-d? Again, keeping to the
standards can't really be a bad thing. I'm unsure about overloading
the shortcut with the bar toggle, though. I might instead offer that
alt-ctrl-d could make be added for making a bookmark "silently"
(without revealing the tray, if it's hidden). I think it's better to
keep the notion of creating a bookmark and toggling the bookmark tray
independent. In my browser, command-shift-B toggles the bookmark bar,
but I can't see a reason to require the extra shift modifier (is that
a standard elsewhere?). The shortcut for this is currently
ctrl-space, I think...if we make ctrl-b serve this purpose we should
remove the other shortcut.

This is a pretty interesting idea, and a very nice addition to the
concept of the combined URL/address bar. If you're up to it, I would
appreciate it if you could try out another related idea which I've
been thinking about. I think it would also make sense to reveal the
URI whenever the cursor is within the entry, so that it's possible to
select all or part of it, or position the cursor in a meaningful way
when clicking into it.

I think that we could certainly make use of most of this with the
changes/additions described above! Thanks for your efforts!
