Sometimes could not be easy at all for newcomers to get to those "usual locations", they may not realize even that they're running linux....
Then it makes sense to me to add in the browse default page a link to a wiki page (that we could update accordingly) in wich we states something like:
" For licensing issues we could not ship everything you may and like to have in the image, but here you could start to find some potentially useful links.... bla bla bla..
