Comment(by bernie):

 Some comments from #fedora-devel:

(16:32:51) bernie: has anyone tried booting live fedora usb sticks on
 macbooks recently?
(16:33:33) wwoods: bernie: that ain't gonna work.
(16:33:54) jeremy: bernie: macbooks don't boot from USB unless the USB
stick is set up as EFI bootable. and then you're in a whole other world
 of pain
(16:34:05) clumens: YOU ARE ENTERING A WORLD OF PAIN.
(16:34:09) wwoods: thanks for that, apple
(16:34:42) bernie: wwoods, jeremy: oh, I see
(16:34:45) skvidal: wwoods: didn't you get the pointy stick with your
 apple?
(16:34:56) skvidal: wwoods: the one they ship w/the laptops so you can jab
 yourself in the eye
(16:37:04) bernie: wwoods: there's no easy way to build a bootable EFI USB
 stick with Fedora on it?
(16:37:15) wwoods: bernie: none that I know of
(16:37:24) wwoods: there might be a *hard* way
(16:37:33) bernie: not even with bootcamp?
 (16:37:52) jeremy: livecd-iso-to-disk has a --mactel/--efi switch which
works on many. but then you get into efi + modesetting failures in a lot
 of cases
(16:37:57) bernie: it makes XP boot, doesn't it mean that it fakes a PC
 BIOS?
(16:38:05) jeremy: bernie: all that bootcamp does is partitioning
(16:38:26) jeremy: bernie: when bootcamp was originally released, they
also included a firmware update which does a fake bios. that works for cd
booting, but their bios doesn't support usb booting
(16:38:42) mjg59: And also doesn't have that support on the Xserve
(16:38:49) bernie: jeremy: I see... apple is great
(16:39:02) mjg59: They implmented what they needed
(16:39:14) skvidal: bernie: keep drinking that kool-aid :)
(16:39:22) pjones: well, a CSM. which isn't necessarily a "fake" bios,
 but still.
