 Yes, you will need to run livecd-iso-to-xo.sh on a newer kernel, like the
 one in Jaunty of F11.

 What I usually do (just doing it right now) is to put soas2 in a usb
 stick, boot it in a non-xo, and from there create the image. As Soas2 is
 based on F11, its kernel is new enough.
