It helps improve redundancy: usually you want at least 2 nameservers hosted in different locations. ns1.codewiz.org is located in Europe, while ns1.sugarlabs.org and ns2.sugarlabs.org are both hosted in the US, on lightwave and sunjammer. By the way, wiki.sugarlabs.org is down, but apache is up on sunjammer. -- _ // Bernie Innocenti \X/ https://codewiz.org/ From ibiam at sugarlabs.org Wed Jul 16 18:30:04 2025 From: ibiam at sugarlabs.org (Chihurumnaya Ibiam) Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2025 23:30:04 +0100 Subject: [Systems] Remove ns1.codewiz.org as one of our NS In-Reply-To: <7597b1e2-3490-4c42-9b26-11bd6417825a@codewiz.org> References: <7597b1e2-3490-4c42-9b26-11bd6417825a@codewiz.org> Message-ID: On Wed, Jul 16, 2025 at 8:14?PM Bernie Innocenti wrote: > On 7/16/25 15:16, Chihurumnaya Ibiam wrote: > > Seeing as codewiz.org has been moved away from sunjammer > > So far I've only migrated email, my wiki is still running on sunjammer. > > Alright. > > is there any reason we still have ns1.codewiz.org as our of our name > servers? > > It helps improve redundancy: usually you want at least 2 nameservers > hosted in different locations. ns1.codewiz.org is located in Europe, > while ns1.sugarlabs.org and ns2.sugarlabs.org are both hosted in the US, > on lightwave and sunjammer. > Agreed, I figured ns1 and ns2 are in different parts of the US, but it's great to have another NS that's not in the US. > > By the way, wiki.sugarlabs.org is down, but apache is up on sunjammer. > Can you check now?
