Hmm... Someone must have created this user with the regular useradd.

By the way, today ldap doesn't buy us much: its intended purpose was
single-sign-on for shell accounts and web applications, but it's better
achieved via web-centric protocols. So I wouldn't be opposed to
migrating all shell accounts into passwd and drop ldap; it would help
reduce the system complexity a little.
