Query about our server capacity.
Aside from the issue of getting SFC to agree that translate.org is a
suitable guest (open source, etc.) on our infrastructure, would we
potentially have sufficient bandwidth, cycles and storage to offer
some hosting to parts of the Amagamma Translation Memory server (or a
mirror) for Virtaal and Pootle?
Obviously this is also a policy question that the SLOBs would need to
sign off on, but there is no point in asking the policy question until
the question of technical capacity is answered.

Hallo everybody
Partly due to the unfortunate incident with the server hosting
Amagama, and partly because of some kind hosting by OSUOSL, I was able
to deploy a new Amagama server a few days ago. As part of the
deployment I rebuilt the database with fresh translations from several
major FOSS projects. So users of Virtaal have this useful online
translation memory available again after a few days of unavailability.
In other good news, the new service seems quite a bit faster in
initial testing. If your experience is different, feel free to mention
it here on the mailing list. Furthermore we integrated Amagama also
into the upcoming version of Pootle.
To handle the increased load when this Pootle version is released, and
in order to give the best service, we're still interested in hearing
from people who might be willing to help with hosting. If we can
offload hosting for certain languages to separate servers, that should
help as the users increase.
Happy translating!
Friedel
