Do you need shell access to the machine to do this work? If so, please
apply for an account:

If you're not comfortable working in a remote shell, you could use the
shell account to access the themes directory through sftp or scp. There
is good client-side software available also for MacOS and Windows.

We can also setup a separate development instance in which you could
experiment freely, but it should also be possible to test a new theme
without disrupting the default one.
