How about using traffic shaping directly on bender? Or setting TOS so 
the gateways can prioritize better?

For Buildbot this is on my TODO list, but I need to dive into Buildbot 
and Jhbuild to figure out how to do it. It should matter a lot more to 
CPU usage than to network bandwidth, though - we're only updating git 
repositories, not pulling tarballs.
As for the distro update cronjobs, it seems it's only been working on 
one of the VMs anyway (need to figure out why), so no "collisions" 
there.

BTW, didn't you want to reboot bender?
