The program is scheduled to begin next summer (2011) and applications are due November 10, 2010. I thought this opportunity may be of particular interest to you and your Peruvian colleagues. The Community Solutions Program, a program funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and administered by the International Research and Exchanges Board, seeks to enhance the skills of civic and community leaders to more effectively address current economic, environmental, political, and social challenges in their communities. In 2011-2012 sixty-six selected applicants will participate in: a four-month fellowship at U.S. community-based, non-profit or other organizations, government offices or legislative bodies where fellows will work with seasoned community leaders; a Community Leadership Institute where fellows will spend more than 500 hours developing practical leadership skills in Goal Setting, Monitoring & Evaluation, Organizational Team Building, Networking & Partnering, and Communications & Advocacy; and, follow-on projects in their home countries. Specific themes for professional fellowships for this program are: Transparency and Accountability; Tolerance/Conflict Resolution; Environmental Issues; and, Women's Issues.
