Just thought I'd mention ... I've tested USB flash drives against USB
hard drives, and found the USB hard drives far superior when performance
is important.

I use the Seagate FreeAgent Go (250-500GB) USB drives or equivalent as
install media for my Linux test systems.<br>
They work very well with netbooks and are almost the same cost as an
8GB USB flash Drive.<br>
An added benefit; they seem at least 10X faster, and run off the USB
port's power.<br>
