I don't know of anywhere that gender is used inside Sugar. I think it was
being captured for some deployments for statistical reasons. But I am in
favor of making it an opt-in feature for deployments.

Age is used by some apps, e.g., the bot inside Speak tries to take the same
age as the user. And the teacher-share app has different behavior for
adults. But these are both pretty inconsequential features and again, an
opt-in by deployment would be reasonable.
