How is the process in Fedora 16 to download a .rpm from it sources and
re-build it again?

I did it in Debian Testing with:

apt-get source python-gobject
cd <folder>
wget -c
http://git.gnome.org/browse/pygobject/patch/?id=d37680bb9390426f7f58ea3d352c3e5e2106e978 -O patch
patch -p1 < patch
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
cd ..
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
