If you use the Browse activity to download new activities from http://activities.sugarlabs.org it will try to provide the correct version based on the Sugar version you have running. There are some activities that may make assumptions about dependencies on a specific distro (i.e. Fedora) though the Sugar Platform (http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/0.88/Platform_Components) should cover the majority of cases.
