None in general. I don't know exactly what your problem is, but there
are two potential sources of difference between Sugar and Gnome:

1. Sugar saves language configuration to ~/.i18n and reads it on
   start-up. ~/.i18n is a Fedora-ism, so on non-Fedora systems Sugar
   might use a different locale than Gnome does.

2. sugar.activity.main.main() handles locale and gettext() setup for
   Sugar activities. If you don't use it (because it probably won't
   work outside of Sugar) you'll have to take care of initialisation
   yourself.
