Yea it's still there, I moved cut into the copy icon sub menu. I vaguely recollect this was also the approach taken somewhere else after some design chatter - though I may have just made that up ;)

I'd say it's useful from a keyboard shortcut point of view for those used to keyboarding. Actually just checked Write and we're missing the extra cut menu entry there, though the keyboard shortcut does at least work - perhaps a bug for Write to help aid shortcut discovery.
