"Half available memory free" is relative but it doesn't mean the same
in systems with different amounts of memory and probably swap space.
Have people actually tried this extension outside the XO?

Make the numbers or try the extension on systems similar to the
examples I gave, you will see how the assessment isn't fair nor even
useful.
