Especially in activity code, we shouldn't assume that every line of code
is there for a good reason.

Many of our core activities were written at OLPC by interns, many of
which had no previous experience working with Linux, GTK or Python.

In that epic era we were using Fedora 6 or 7, sugar-toolkit was still
being crafted and GStreamer was just a steaming pile of unstable code
(yes some things never get old).
