I think I do like the solid steeple cap, certainly it is simpler at least. The steeple tower now seems a little fat/dumpy and un-tower like to my eye (made the steeple a little wider and the bell slightly larger, vertical space is more the limit now on bell size) – though I've likely been staring at the shapes too long now :)
