libnotify is on OLPC XO-1.5 builds at the moment, with Sugar 0.84.10,
and notify-send causes an icon to appear top right of the current
activity (moving the stop icon), or the top right of the non-activity
views.
However, hoving, clicking or otherwise interacting with this icon
appears to do nothing. It eventually goes away.
Gnome desktop draws a window and fills it in with the text of the
notification.
