It is good to here about your interest from DTU.  One of the best, and most effective, ways to get involved in coding Sugar is through Activities.

Check out the activities maintained by the activities team at http://activities.sugarlabs.org/en-US/sugar/user/54 .  They are looking for the personal attention a maintainer can give them.
