Sugar will definitely work without USB support.  I agree, however, that
the Journal's support for saving to a USB stick is valuable.

I haven't used Virtualbox, so I don't know if it has the ability to map
drives or directories into the virtual machine.  If it does, then we can
also access USB storage devices in this way.  I don't think we have any
need for direct access to non-storage USB devices.
