Hi Steven,
Regarding the XO as an authoring tool, I suspect you will find
it a challenge to present the features of your applicaton is a
way that is useful to Children. For example, Write currently
exposes a tiny fraction of the features of AbiWord.
I think making extensive use of drag and drop will be the key and is
something I'm focussing on for write.
