Sascha;<br>
<br>
I would appreciate input on my proposal to modify the index.html in the
Browse.activity for the fedora spins Soas .iso<br>
<br>
<b>"An enhanced "start new" screen for sugar.browse.</b> It should have
added customizable links and Graphic Elements Suitable for <b>Soas-v4
-Mangolassi"</b> <span class="editsection"></span><span
class="mw-headline"
id="Ideas_from_Soas_.23sugar-meeting:_06.2F14.2F2010"></span><br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Features/Revised_Browse_default-bookmarks.html">http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Features/Revised_Browse_default-bookmarks.html</a><br>
<br>
I am presently leaning towards: <br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_Creation_Kit#Introduction">http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Sugar_Creation_Kit#Introduction</a><br>
<br>
In my prototype screen modification with the MENU link in this mockup:<br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://people.sugarlabs.org/Tgillard/index6.html">http://people.sugarlabs.org/Tgillard/index6.html</a> <br>
<br>
(An_alternate_Proposed_start_screen_with_these_elements)<br>
<br>
This seems to be less intrusive and would only be used for the fedora
soas spin so it should not affect other instances that use Sugar.<br>
<br>
The page I point to contains all of the links and structure of the
SugarCreationKit DVD and I think a great alternate way to access the
Wiki, and other resources need by a user of Soas.<br>
<br>
This Proposed Feature needs to discussed on the lists. <br>
<br>
It is a proposal due for review for the 2nd time on the next Soas
Meeting<br>
<br>
Thanks;<br>

Since Browse has been unmaintained for several months [1] now, Lucian and I finally decided to step up as maintainers. This does NOT mean the current Browse will see a lot of improvements or even just bug fixes, as we are both already rather busy.
We will, however, handle patches to the best of our abilities and maybe do some minor changes (e.g. include the CAcert root certs) or trivial fixes.
For those who don't know yet: Lucian is working [2] on an abstraction layer that will allow Browse to use WebKit (or xulrunner, should anyone want to ;) ) as part of this years GSoC. He already worked on adding SSB support [3] to Browse during last years GSoC. I'll let these facts speak for themselves. :)
If someone else would like to maintain (or co-maintain) Browse, please speak up now.
Sascha
