It depends on the age of the computer, and the BIOS brand/version. I have
also seen F2 or F8 for boot options or entering the BIOS.

Some systems can't boot off USB at all. Some can only boot off USB if you
actually edit the BIOS boot settings. I don't know which instructions you
included, perhaps a link to the instructions you sent home would help.
