I got exactly the same issue with a "Sugar on a stick" when I didn't 
wait enough after shutdown.
I had to format again the stick and redo installation from scratch.
(Mago Lassi + Fedora 14  with syslinux 4.03 and Fedora's LiveUsb Creator)
