I filed a form at work to qualify Sugar Labs as a charitable
organization eligible for an employee donation program.

Here's what I wrote. For "Organization Overview":

----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----------
Sugar Labs develops free software and content for primary school
education, with a focus in developing nations.

The Sugar learning environment powers all the laptops distributed by One
Laptop Per Child, reaching 2.5 million children worldwide.

Sugar Labs is a member project of the Software Freedom Conservancy, an
umbrella organization providing fiscal sponsorship for several other
projects. EIN 41-2203632.

"Game changing idea":

----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----------
Sugar is disruptive technology that gives every child early access to
powerful and open-ended tools to think with, connect with other children
and with the rest of the world.

Sugar's collection of activities range from curriculum-oriented material
to games and powerful tools for painting, composing music and creating
animated stories. Many activities have a focus on Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and some are designed to introduce
children to basic computer programming.

Rockstar team:

----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----------
Sugar Labs is organized as a democracy led by an international community
of supporters. The project is organized in teams coordinated by
volunteers: Development, Translation, Design, Activities, Education,
Infrastructure and so on.

There's an oversight board with 7 members elected yearly by the
community and a director appointed by the board. The founder and current
director of Sugar Labs is Walter Bender, former director of the MIT
Media Lab and co-founder of One Laptop Per Child. Bender travels
incessantly to deployments to get new ideas for creating new activities.
He currently maintains over 30 of them, including the LOGO-derived
graphical programming environment Turtle Art.

Tangible project:

----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<-----------8<----------
The Sugar learning environment and can run on any laptop or tablet
capable of running Linux and is available as a live USB stick. There
have been new stable releases every 6 months for the past four years.

Sugar comes with over 300 activities designed to stimulate creativity,
collaboration and self-directed learning. New activities are uploaded
every week, and a few children and teachers have already started
contributing simple activities and engaging with the on-line development
community.

I was wondering if people who have done the same thing before and could
share their blurbs and perhaps put a copy-pasteable paragraph somewhere
on the wiki.
