It would seem seem that many other organizations who are
also applying would also have some type of relationship
with the FSF. As long as the FSF does not see it as
a conflict than we should absolutely throw our
hat in the ring!

I'd say SugarLabs fits the bill quite well.
Previous winners have included Creative Commons, Groklaw, the Sahana project, and Wikipedia.
