----cut----
http://sugarlabs.org/ has always been the main address for our wiki.
http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/ just redirects to it.

If we repoint this at the new web site, we'll break *all* the links
in the world pointing at us, which would be very, very unfortunate
for our search engine ranking.

I disagree with this. It's not the case. The new website is meant to
communicate with teachers, parents, and funders, and it's the site
they already find in Google at position #1 since the second day the
site was launched (I have checked it twice a day, every day since).
BTW I am also monitoring "sugar labs" in Google News every day.

We are about to send a press release to over 300 journalists and
education themed sites pointing to www.sugarlabs.org, so in a week's
time there will quite likely be even more links in the world pointing
to the site than any previous ones there may have been. Users won't
assume that www.sugarlabs.org and sugarlabs.org are not the same thing
- it's counter-intuitive - and the current setup traps users who come
in the front door and navigate to the the wiki, which is a rich
workspace of course but which will bewilder people seeking basic
information and from which the only way back to the intro part of the
site is through multiple back button presses in the browser. Even the
wiki's logo doesn't link to the right place!

This needs to be fixed by Monday morning when the press launch
happens, it would be a shame for journalists discovering Sugar to get
confused while navigating.

thanks

Sean
