  Marketers Making a Difference is a group of talented, dedicated marketing
professionals who spend their lunch hour one day a month meeting with a
Boston-area nonprofit that needs some help with a marketing challenge -
raising awareness, attracting a new audience, brand identity, etc. We
brainstorm for an hour to an hour and a half and generate lots of
suggestions for the organization to choose from.

In 2008 we met with People Making a Difference, Adoption & Foster Care
Mentoring, Boundless Playgrounds, Compass Working Capital, Eliot School of
Fine and Applied Arts, Cambridge Cares About AIDS, World Computer Exchange,
Inc., New Entry Sustainable Farming Project, and Transition House.

Our 2009 calendar is open. I'd love to hear from any local nonprofits that
think they could benefit from a little marketing expertise. Ideal candidates
are organizations that do not have marketing expertise in-house but do have
some resources (paid or volunteer) to help implement the best ideas
generated by the group.

"Mission-Based Massachusetts" is an email distribution list for topics of
general interest to people who care about nonprofit, philanthropic,
community-based, grassroots, and other mission-based organizations in the
Bay State.

It is a moderated, flame-free email distribution list that is open to anyone
who is interested in the topic and willing to adhere to the basic principles
of civil society.  The name of the group was chosen to encourage inclusion
of persons from all sectors and demographic categories, rather than just
nonprofit and philanthropic professionals.
