<div dir="ltr"><div>Hi all,</div><div> I was very surprised to learn that the Ombudsman's ruling is not binding. That would certainly make it even harder to find people to serve in that role.</div><div> I have a suggestion for a modification to the proposal for a Response Team. Rather that a permanent Team, make it a Team that is created as the need arises, and that the 3 members are agreed to by the persons in dispute, and that both (or all) those in dispute agree to abide by the Team's decision. Where should these Team members come from? -- All Sugar Labs community members are potential Team members by default except for the current SLOBs (and SLOBs candidates if there are any). Team members would be drawn by random selection, people may opt-out or be rejected by one or more of the disputees, and selection continues until there are three. </div><div><br></div><div>Your thoughts?</div><div><br></div><div>cheers</div><div>Hilary</div><div><br></div><div>---Original Message---</div><span style="font-size:12.8px">Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2017 08:35:40 -0500</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">From: Walter Bender <</span><a href="mailto:walter.bender@gmail.com" style="font-size:12.8px">walter.bender@gmail.com</a><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">To: iaep <</span><a href="mailto:iaep@lists.sugarlabs.org" style="font-size:12.8px">iaep@lists.sugarlabs.org</a><span style="font-size:12.8px">>, </span><a href="mailto:sugar-sur@lists.sugarlabs.org" style="font-size:12.8px">sugar-sur@lists.sugarlabs.org</a><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">Subject: Re: [IAEP] Sugar Labs Community Response Team</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">On Fri, Nov 3, 2017 at 4:31 PM, Laura Vargas <</span><a href="mailto:laura@somosazucar.org" style="font-size:12.8px">laura@somosazucar.org</a><span style="font-size:12.8px">> wrote:</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> [español abajo]</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> Good day Sugar Labs members,</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> As per today's meeting Bert Freudenbergs has declined his Ombudsman</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> position on Sugar Labs.</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> It has been discussed in today's meeting the possibility for Sugar Labs to</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> shape a RESPONSE TEAM composed at least 3 Sugar Labs members (Its has</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> been suggested at least one female member).</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> The objective of the RESPONSE TEAM will be to attend and resolve all Code</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> of Conduct's requests for the Sugar Labs Community.</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> Please share your comments and if you are interested in be take part of</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">> this new team.</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">></span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">While I am in favor of trying to improve upon our ability as a community to</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">resolve differences, I have several concerns about the plan to form a</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">committee:</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">(1) It is not clear to me that a committee decision would hold any more</span><br style="font-size:12.8px"><span style="font-size:12.8px">weight than the decision of a sole ombudsman.
