<div dir="ltr">Hi Sugar Labs Voters!<div><br></div><div>You should be receiving an email with a link for casting your vote in the 2015-2016 election to select board members for the Suger Labs Oversight Board. If you do not receive the email in the next day or two. first check your SPAM folder. Then, if you are an active member of Sugar Labs (meaning you responded "yes" to the survey about wanting to be active or you are a new member), please reply to me (caryl@laptop.org) right away and Sebastien, Samson, and I will try to track down the problem and make sure you get a ballot in plenty of time to vote. We have worked long and hard on trying to make sure the lists are complete and accurate, but there are bound to be problems. Nobody is perfect!</div><div><br></div><div>I am doing this literally at the "eleventh hour" (10:43 PM local time) at the conference hotel for the Southern California Linux Expo. In fairness to our many members living in the southern hemisphere who are busy with vacations at this time of year, you will note that the election spans two weekends and includes the weekdays in between. The balloting is supposed to close January 31, but to allow for the huge span of time zones in our group, It will officially end on Feb 1 with voting closing at 00:01 UT on 02/02/16.</div><div><br></div><div>We suggest that you don't wait until the last minute to vote. However, since you will not be able to change your ballots after they are cast, be sure to check on the platforms of the 10 candidates and make a list of how you want to rank them (in order of preference), and then do the actual voting: <a href="https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Oversight_Board/2015-2016-candidates" target="_blank" style="font-size:12pt;">https://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Oversight_Board/2015-2016-candidates</a></div><div><br></div><div>Ties will be handled via the same Condorset voting system we have used before. It was developed by the computer science department of <span style="font-size:12pt;">Cornell University (in Ithica, New York). If you would like to know more about this system, you can read all about it here: </span><a href="http://civs.cs.cornell.edu" target="_blank" style="font-size:12pt;">http://civs.cs.cornell.edu</a><span style="font-size:12pt;"> This same system was used for our last election in 2014</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">.</span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">If everyone follows these suggestions, we should end up with a fair and impartial election.</span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">Thanks in advance for your participation!</span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">Your 2015-2016 Sugar Labs Membership and Election Committee</span></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">Sebastian Silva, Caryl Bigenho, and Samson Goddy</span></div> </div></div> </div></body>
