Dear Friends and Colleagues:

We are very pleased to announce a special pair of unique complementary events--one virtual and one physical--to bring together people who are thinking about the learning that is happening within (but often not across) our important learning places: the school, library, museum, work, adult, online, non-traditional, and home learning worlds.

We want to explore and bridge the conversations about teaching and learning that are common to these worlds--this includes: learning theory, learning practice, learning science, learning space design, and technology for learning. The Internet is shifting the boundaries of these worlds, and we believe that they will increasingly overlap and integrate, and that the conversations we will have at these two events are critical to framing and preparing for the learning revolution starting to take place.

THE LEARNING REVOLUTION CONFERENCE will be held April 21 - 25, online and free, in conference format, with special keynote speakers the evenings of April 21 - 23, and then with both keynotes and hourly sessions for full days on April 24 and 25. The call for proposals is now open and we encourage all to participate. As with our other virtual conference events, we are soliciting for our international advisory board, for conference partner organizations, and for sponsors.

More information is available at the Learning Revolution Conference page. Please join the site to be kept informed.

THE DEEP DIVE AT BLACK MOUNTAIN will be held May 12 - 14 in beautiful Black Mountain, North Carolina (with an optional pre-conference set of activities May 9 - 11 to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings, and with our inaugural Education Film Festival starting the evening of May 9). This physical event will be held in "Open Space Technology" or unconference/barcamp style--this involves the establishing of discussion topics (focused on the same learning topics above) at the start, and then scheduling those in during the event with longer blocks of time for deep conversation. Deep Dive at Black Mountain will have a small registration fee and will have inexpensive room/board arrangements (all at cost). Catch a plane or a train, ride a bus, drive your car, or even hitch-hike to get to this event--you won't have been to anything else like it!
At one time home to the experimental Black Mountain College, this year it has housed the higher-education experiment called Black Mountain SOLE (self-organized learning environment). The physical address is 84 Blue Ridge Assembly Rd, Black Mountain, NC 28711 (Google map link).
More information for this unique event, the pre-conference, and the Education Film Festival is available at the Deep Dive at Black Mountain page.

I sure hope you will consider joining us for either or both events!
