Either.

Uruguay:
I am told that
kids with Classmates have Ubuntu, and no sudo restriction, they will
do fine, I will follow up eventually to make a detailed how-to in
the TI wiki

Younger kids (I believe until 6th grade) have been given XOs
running a Uruguayan mod of the OLPC OS. Among the mods is a block
to disable their sudo access.
These kids would be the goal of any "forced" Sugarization,
and the cause of this thread...

Other Countries:
Apparently elsewhere there were no OS mods, whether out of wisdom or
not, we don't know, but those are the lucky ones.
Again, no further need to do much, they can use sudo yum install,
and that way they have more and better opportunities for their own
education.
Certainly, as it pertains to developing a solution.

Not to disagree, let me just mention that we sort of needed to
understand the goal, which, basically, is:

1) non-sudo install of certain binaries, namely
msp430-binutils
msp430mcu
libmpc
msp430-gcc
msp430-libc
mspdebug

2) non-sudo run mspdebug in Terminal

Thank you all!

As I said at some moment, due to the Classmate availability, this no
longer has as much priority for me as it used to.

Nevertheless, there just might be a brilliant geek-in-the-bud in a
5th grade class in Uruguay whose world would change and he would
change the world by being able to learn now to manage MSP430 mcus.
VERY long shot, many other issues to achieve that, but then, who
knows?
