The drive costs $25 and up which is what a stand alone DVD player (not the portable ones with built in screen and batteries) also costs. Which is why Yamaplos suggested using the latter - you only need a TV instead of a laptop computer. Of course, there are several situations where the computer will actually be the cheaper option.
