Requests 20 XO's over 15 months<br>
<br>
Project Objectives:<br>
A. To give economically poorer elementary students computer
experience.<br>
Many children in the neighborhood where I live do not have computer
access<br>
at home, and limited access at school. Elementary children in
particular<br>
are beginning middle school and high school with less technology
skills than<br>
the middle income students in the suburbs.<br>
B. Helping the middle income and affluent students become mentors to
the<br>
students listed above. These students would also be leaning about
class<br>
distinction within their own community.<br>

Requests 2-3 XO's over 24-36 months<br>
<br>
Project Objectives:<br>
Since I am working as an official day care father in the city of<br>
Bonn, Germany, I recognized the interest of young children in<br>
getting in contact with computers. As "normal" computers are not<br>
suitable for young children because of their lack of sturdiness,<br>
especially for the very young ones, the OLPC-XO seems to be the<br>
perfect machine.<br>
<br>
I would like to evolve concepts for young children education<br>
(age 2-6) in the spirit of Seymour Papert.<br>

Requests 10 XO over 36 months<br>
<br>
Project Objectives:<br>
This proposal describes the implementation of Internet Math Tutoring
for<br>
alternative-school students in the USA. The technology will bring<br>
individualized math tutoring instruction to students. In this way,
math<br>
teaching specialists can supplement the local teacher(s) in<br>
disadvantaged areas and in sparsely populated areas without having to<br>
transport teaching specialists to the areas.<br>
<br>
Internet Math Tutoring will offer:<br>
<br>
-- laptop XO computers (on loan) connected to high-speed Internet,
for<br>
individual students;<br>
<br>
-- appointments between tutor and students will be implemented
through<br>
Google online;<br>
<br>
-- a video uploading facility hosted at a low fee by a video platform<br>
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.blip.tv">http://www.blip.tv</a>);<br>
<br>
-- a presentation facility similar to Power Point but open source,
no fee.<br>
<br>
-- a web conferencing organizer online, no fee with ads (See<br>
