David, et al.

A great person for managing the logistics of sprints would be Joshua from the FSF (CC'd here). He's ran similar events for the FSF and his own sites including textbookrevolution.org, etc. If you're comfortable holding the event at OLPC's office, I bet that this could be arranged over a weekend, or if not, Josh would be a good person to help find space.

I have been talking with Kim and Michael at OLPC this past week about a first-boot getting-started guide. It sounds like at the very least some content will be included in the 8.1.2 release. The 8.2.0 release of Sugar, which *should* be packaged for the upcoming G1G1 mark 2, will have a first boot activity that will display the best getting started guide that exists at that time. The 8.2.0 content will of course have to be updated for the new UI changes, etc.

I would be happy to help organize things at 1cc and try to wrangle funds for food if people would like to hold the event there.

Seth

Over the past few week Adam Hyde, Anne Gentle, and I have been
discussing how FLOSS manuals and Sugar Labs can collaborate on creating
the Sugar users manual.

I think we agree that it would be mutually beneficial to work together.

Anne and Adam have proposed conducting a Sugar book-sprint in August. A
book sprint is very similar to a developer sprint. Floss manuals has
conducted several productive sprints over the past few months.

I would be very interested in bringing together the writers from FLOSS
Manuals, OLPC and Sugar Labs to conduct a joint sprint. Adam proposed
getting together 5-6 core writers.

The two biggest question are:
Who is interested in participating? and
What are the logistics of conducting a sprint?

Adam, do you have a rough estimate on the cost of conducting a sprint?
Walter, Adam do you have ideas where we could get funding for holding a
sprint?

thanks
