[IAEP] Dailymotion, Ogg video, and Sugar

I had the opportunity to interview Vint Cerf at Groklaw and asked him
about that (http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20080303140032154).
Google doesn't even index Ogg container metadata; this is not
encouraging, as indexing media files is a real challenge and pulling
out metadat is the easiest way to do that.
Adobe Flash 10 supports Ogg Speex, a lossy audio codec optimized for
speech (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/features/). I
understand their motivation was compatibility with VoIP applications.
I don't know if YouTube accepts the full set of Flash 10 codecs, I
don't believe so.
I think Google / YouTube will make the minor effort necessary when
there is competition, i.e. widely viewed Dailymotion content absent
from YouTube. Google Video search indexes Dailymotion video, so Google
will be well aware as that occurs.
Sean.
